The traditional name 'Algieba' comes from the Arabic الجبهة Al-Jabhah, which means 'the forehead'. In China it was known as 軒轅 十二, the Twelfth Star of Xuanyuan, the Yellow Emperor.
Algieba is a orange bright gigant star of spectral type K0 III, with a surface temperature of 4470 K.
It is a system formed by 2 components. In November 2009, an exoplanet of 2.1 Jupiter masses was discovered, located at a distance of 2.6 AU around the primary star.
Photometric observations were carried out in the year 2010.

- Latitude: 8.8º ( 8º49' Aries).

- Declination: 19.8º (19º50' 1st House; seminovile 20º [=quadrinovile 160º > 0º Libra], 0º10' orb)
The star Algieba reminds the quality of the planets Uranus, Jupiter and the Sun. The symbolic image 'the forehead' refers to the functions of the frontal lobe of the brain, related to the ability for decision making.
It is related with an amazing ability to overcome very quickly, after having lost control of the situation, or being left behind for not knowing how to adapt to changing situations on time or properly.
