Antares [alSco], ability to defeat enemies with honor

Antares [Alfa Scorpii, alSco, α Sco] is the brightest star in the constellation Scorpio, with an apparent magnitude of +1,09. It is a red supergiant situated at approximately 550 light years from Earth. Its luminosity is 10 000 times greater than the sun. Due to its low surface temperature (3600 K), emits quite a lot in the infrared band.

It has a radius 645 times higher than the Sun. If it were located in the center of our solar system, its surface would extend beyond Mars and the asteroid belt (3.4 UA). Its colossal size in comparison with its mass, gives as a result a very low density. In its surface blows a stellar wind that makes the star be wrapped in a cloud of gas.

Size comparison between Antares, Arturo and the Sun.
In 1819, during a lunar occultation, was discovered its companion (although its existence was not confirmed until 1846), a white-blue star, located at 550 UA, wich orbits every 2500 years.

Due to its nearness to the ecliptic, Antares can be occulted by the Moon, (the last occultation occurred on 31 July 2009) and very rarely by Venus (the last occultation occurred in the year 525 BC).

Antares has a declination of -26º and is located at 9º Sagittarius (-5º of celestial latitude).

The name Antares derives from Antar (Antarah ibn Shaddad), the warrior-hero celebrated in the pre-Islamic poems Mu'allagat. There, the courage, heroism and the ethic code of the chivalrous are emphasized. Antares it is also known in Arabic as Kalb to Akrab 'the Heart of Scorpion'. In Persia was called Dharind, 'the one that grabs'.

"The Lucky One" (2011)

Antares is a star that reminds the quality of the planets Mars, Saturn and Neptune. It gives the ability to defeat enemies with honor, respecting the ethics code, like Luck at the end of the movie "Star Wars VI - The Return of the Jedi" (1983) or Daniel-Miyagui at the end of the movie "Karate Kid" (1984).

"Dragon Quest (Fly)" (1989) [Catalan dubbing]

Ralph Macchio, actor of the movie "Karate Kid" (1984), has Antares in Sagittarius in the Crossing Point of the Age Progressions (Signs Horoscope and Moon-Node Horoscope), also in square with Pluto in Virgo.

Zac Efron, actor of the Movie "The Lucky One" (2011), has Antares in Sagittarius in square with the Moon in Virgo, also in semisextile with Pluto-Venus in Scorpio.

Denzel Washington, actor of the movie "Unstoppable" (2010), has Antares in Sagittarius in sextile with the Moon in Aquarius.

Regulus [alLeo], amazing ability to create opportunities related with the projects about to undertake

Regulus [Alfa Leonis, alLeo, α Leo] is the brightest star in the constellation Leo (the Lion), with a visual magnitude of +1,36. It is located at a distance of 79 light years from the solar system.

The name 'Regulus' comes from Latin and means 'prince' or 'young king'. In Arabic it was known as 'Qalb Al Asad' قلب الأسد, which means 'the heart of the lion'. In China it was known as 轩辕 十四, the Fourteenth Star of Xuanyuan, the Yellow Emperor. In Babylon it was known as 'Sharru', which means 'the king'. In Persia it was known as 'Miyan', which means 'the center' and also as 'Venant', one of the four real stars of the Persian monarchy.

It is part of the group of Behenian stars, a selection of fifteen stars in the medieval astrology of Europe and the Arab world.

Regulus is a blue-white subgigant star of spectral type B8 IV, with a surface temperature of 12460 K. It has a rotation speed of 347 km/s. Its speed of rotation is extremely fast (15.9 hours), due to which has a very ovaloide and a photosphere much more warm and luminous in the poles. It is very close to the limit, if its rotation speed was a 15% faster, the gravity of the star would not be sufficient to contain its material.

It is a multiple system, consisting of 3 components: the main white-blue star, a white dwarf that orbits it, and at 5000 AU another couple, formed by an orange and a red dwarf, separated each other by approximately 100 UA.

Photometric observations were carried out in the years
2005, 2008, 2009 and 2014.

In July of 1959, coinciding with the Walt Disney movie "Sleeping Beauty" (1959), Venus occulted Regulus.

Position in relation to the ecliptic:
  • Longitude: 150.1º ( 0º 7' Virgo; quincuncio 150º [=trine 120º > 0º Taurus/Capricorn], 0º07' orb)
  • Latitude:   0.5º ( 0º28' Aries; conjunction, 0º28' orb).

Position in relation to the celestial equator:

  • Right ascension: 152.1º ( 2º 6' 6th House; (onci)semitrecil@152º18', 0º12' orb)
  • Declination:  12.0º (11º58' 1st House; semiquincile@12º, 0º02' orb)

The star Regulus reminds the planets Mars and Jupiter. The symbolic image 'prince' or 'young king' refers to a person with supports and ability to initiate activities that require more courage than usual.

It is related with an amazing ability to create opportunities related with the projects about to undertake, from actions oriented in the same direction, which combine with each other to give the final result.

Tom Cruise, actor of the movies "A Few Good Men" (1992) and "Minority Report" (2002), has Regulus in conjunction with Uranus in Leo (12th Moon-Node House), wich is in square with Mars and Pallas in Taurus (3rd Moon-Node House).

Sam Worthington, actor of the movies "Avatar" (2009) and "Man on a Ledge" (2012), has Regulus in conjunction with Mercury in Leo (3rd Moon-Node House), wich is in square to Jupiter in Taurus (6th Moon-Node House).
