Zavijava [beVir], amazing coherence between what is preached and the way of behaving

Zavijava [Beta Virginis, beVir, β Vir] is the 7th brightest star in the constellation Virgo (the Maiden), with a visual magnitude of +3,59. It is located at a distance of 36 light years from the solar system.

The traditional name 'Zavijava' comes from the Arabic زاوية العواء 'zāwiyat al-cawwa', which means 'the corner of the barker [person who loudly announces a matter of interest to the public]'. This star, together with Zaniah [etVir], Porrima [gaVir], Minelauva [deVir] and Vindemiatrix [epVir], formed the asterism 'Al Awwāʼ, which means 'the barker'.

In China it was known as 太微 右 垣 'Tài Wēi Zuǒ Yuán yī', which means 'The first star of the Left Wall of the Supreme Palace Enclosure', and represented 右 執法 (Yòuzhífǎ), which means 'The Right Administrator of Law' or 'the Right Guardian of the Law'.

Zavijava is a yellow-white main sequence dwarf star of spectral type F9 V, with a surface temperature of 6132 K. It has a rotation speed of 4 km/s.

Photometric observations were carried out in the years 1978, 1998 and 2005.

Zavijava was the star used by Albert Einstein to determine the speed of light in space, during the solar eclipse of September 21, 1922.

• Longitude: 177.5º (27º27' Virgo; opposition 180º, 2º33' orb)
• Latitude:   0.7º ( 0º42' Aries; conjunction, 0º42' orb).

Position in relation to the celestial equator:

• Right ascension: 177.7º (27º40' 6th House; opposition 180º, 2º20' orb)
• Declination:   1.8º ( 1º46' 1st House; conjunction, 1º46' orb)

The star Zaniah reminds the quality of the planets Mercury, Mars and Saturn. The symbolic images 'corner of the barker' refers to the focal point of emission of messages oriented to the population.

The traditional name 'Zaniah' comes from the Arabic زاوية 'zāwiyah', which means 'angle' or 'corner'. It was also cataloged as 'Thanih al Aoua' and translated into Latin as 'Secunda Latratoris', which means 'the second barker [person who announces aloud a matter of interest to the public]'. This star, together with Zavijava [beVir], Porrima [gaVir], Minelauva [deVir] and Vindemiatrix [epVir], formed the asterism 'Al Awwāʼ, which means 'the barker'.

Zaniah is a white main sequence dwarf star of spectral type A2 V, with a surface temperature of 9333 K. It has a rotation speed of 18 km/s.

Photometric observations were carried out in August 1972, 2003, October 1967 and February 2007. There was an occultation of this star by the planet Venus in September 1843.

Vindemiatrix [epVir], amazing ability to form groups and teams

Vindemiatrix [Epsilon Virginis, epVir, ε Vir] is the 4th brightest star in the constellation Virgo (the Maiden), with a visual magnitude of +2,85. It is located 110 light years from the solar system.
 
The name Vindemiatrix means in Latin 'the grape harvester', its early morning departure at the end of August marked the time to start the grape harvest.

Vindemiatrix is a yellow giant of spectral type G8III1 with a surface temperature of 5040 K. It has a luminosity 83 times greater than that of the Sun and its radius is 11.4 times larger. It is an important source of X-rays, which implies a great magnetic activity on its surface.

Photometric observations were carried out in January 2011.

It is located in the longitude 190.2º (10º12' Libra; quartinovile@10º, 0º12' orb), and latitude  16.2º (16º12' Aries; trevigintile@15º39', 0º33' orb).

And in the right ascension 195.5º (15º33' 7th House) and declination  11.0º (10º58' 1st House; cuartioctile@11º15', 0º17' orb).
 

Vindemiatrix is a star that reminds the quality of the planets Venus and Saturn. The symbolic image of the 'bunch of grapes' and 'the grape harvester' refers to a set of receptive elements, which together form a unit.

Spica [alVir], inner strength to cope with the difficult moments in life

Spica [Alfa Virginis, alVir, α Vir] is the brightest star in the constellation Virgo. Has an absolute magnitude of +1.04 and it is at 250 light years from Earth. It is a binary system, whose components orbit between them every four days. The tidal forces distort the ellipsoid form, according to the variations of gravitational interaction.The close proximity between them (0.12 AU), also causes the collision of strong stellar winds send out by each one of them, which scatters the light rays and generates intense X-ray The overall brightness is around 12000 times more than the sun. Has a high rotation speed: 199 km/s.

Because of the nearness to the ecliptic (2º), Spica can be hidden by the Moon and sometimes by planets. In November 2009, Venus came very close to Spica (3.5º); the last occultation occurred in November 1783. Between 1966 and 1970, there were important photometric observations.

It has a declination of -11º and it is located at the degree 23º of Libra (-2º of celestial latitude).

The name Spica derives from Latin spica virginis (virgin ear of grain). Due to its separation from the closest stars, in Arabic was called Azimech, السماك الأعزل al simak al a'zal, which meant 'the Undefended'. In Egypt was known as 'the bearer of the Lute'; and in China, as 'the horn' or 'the pointer'.

The quality of the star Spica reminds the planet Jupiter. It is related with the inner strength that allows to cope with the difficult moments in life, overcoming despair with patience and hope. 

In traditional astrology, the quality of the star Spica is associated with the planets Venus and Mars, due to the fact that relationships can overcome couple crisis, reaching maturity and fullness, like in the movies "The Painted Veil" (2006) and "The Longest Ride" (2015).
