The traditional name 'Sargas' is of Sumerian and Persian origin سر گز, meaning 'scorpion' and 'arrowhead', respectively. In Iran used the name 'Sar Gaz', which means 'timing irrigation water shares'.
Sargas is a yellow-white bright gigant star of spectral type F0 II, with a surface temperature of 7268 K. It has a rotation speed of 125 km/s.
Photometric observations were carried out in the year 1988.

The star Sargas reminds the quality of the planets Neptune, Mars and the Sun, and the centaur Nessus. The symbolic image 'arrowhead' refers to the ability to act very quickly from a certain distance in a very focused direction. The symbolic image 'scorpion' refers to the defensive actions of a female animal with cubs in charge, when a predator gets too close. The symbolic image 'timing irrigation water shares' refers to providing the right aid for development, at the right time and in sufficient doses.
