The traditional name Aldulfin derives from the Arabic 'Oanab Ad-Dulfīn' or 'Dzaneb al Delphin', which was translated into Latin as 'Cauda Delphini', which means 'the tail of the dolphin'. In China it was known as 敗 瓜 'Bài Guā yī', which means 'the first star of rotten gourd'.
Aldulfin is a white-blue giant star of spectral type B6III, with a surface temperature of 13600 K. It has a radius 4.6 times greater than the Sun, and a luminosity about 670 times greater. It has a rotation speed of 52 km/s.

Aldulfin is a star that reminds the quality of the planets Mercury and Neptune. The symbolic image 'the tail of the dolphin' refers to the ability to make decisions (directing the course with the 'tail') based on high ideals ('dolphin'); while 'rotten gourd' refers to the ability to soften inflexible mental postures (gourd is a vegetable with a very hard crust, which softens when rotten).
Aldulfin is related with an amazing ability to inspire others through high vibrations and transmit Aquarian ideals, which serve as a guide when making decisions in life.
