It is 16 light years away from the solar system. It has a volume four times greater than the Sun. It occupies the 12th place in the order of brightness of all the stars in the sky. It has an apparent magnitude of +0.76.
The rotation period is only 6 hours and 30 minutes and its equatorial peripheral layers move at the speed of 286 km/s, near the containment limit at about 400 km/h. Has one of the higher rotational speeds known, only under the neutron stars and white dwarfs. Due to the enormous centrifugal forces, the star has acquired a flattened form, with an equatorial diameter of 20% higher than at the poles. Its rapid axial rotation, is probably related with its youth: it has an age of only 630 million years old.
Photometric observations were made during the sixties and between the years 1999-2001 and 2005-2007.
It has a declination of +8º and it is located at 1º of Aquarius (+29º of celestial latitude).
Altair, protagonist of the video game "Assassin's Creed" (PS3, 2007) |
The quality of the star Altair reminds our Sun and the planet Mercury. The first photometric observations clashed with the popularization of the car as a form of transport, which was not constrained by the fixed routes of the tram or bus; while the following photometric observtions clashed with the appearance of video games as "Beyond Good & Evil" (PS2, 2004), "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" (PS2, 2004) and "Assassin's Creed" (PS3, 2007), whose main innovation was the concept of "open world" (sandbox), which gives to the player the ability to move with total freedom in the virtual world of the game and act in the environment in many ways.
The creators of the game "Assassin's Creed" (PS3, 2007) were inspired by the mythology of the eagle while designing the protagonist, so that it is also called Altair. The player can move through the streets of the city, climb almost any building and jump from one rooftop to another to arrive to any part. He can also move from one town to another riding a horse.

Like the mythological image of the flying eagle, Altair provides total autonomy and freedom of movement to carry out any matter.
Matt Damon, actor of the "Jason Bourne" movies, has Altair in the cusp of the 2nd House of the Moon-Nodes Horoscope, in trine with Mercury in the 6th nodal House.
Tom Hanks, an actor in the movies "Forrest Gump" (1994) and "Catch Me if You Can" (2002), has Altair in the 11th House of the Moon-Node Horoscope in the Crossing Point of the Ages Progressions (Signs Horoscope / Moon-Node Horoscope), in opposition to Uranus in the 5th nodal House.
Jennifer Connelly, actress of the movie "Labyrinth" (1986), has Altair in the overlap zone of the 1st and 2nd Houses of the Moon-Node Horoscope, in sextile with Neptune in the overlap zone of the 3th and 4th nodal Houses.
