Alcyone [etTau], vivacity and perfect expresion of feelings through gestures

Alcyone [Eta Tauri, etTau, η Tau] is a star system in the constellation Taurus. It is the brightest star in the Pleiades open cluster, approximately 400 light years from Earth. It has a high rotational velocity of 215 km/s, which has created a gaseous disk flung into orbit around the star from its equator. Alcyone is an eclipsing binary, orbited by three companions.

It has a declination of +24º (quindecile). It is located at 29º degrees of Taurus (+4º of celestial latitude). 


Mythology

It is named after the mythological figure Alcyone, one of the mythological Pleiades. It is known as 昴宿六 (the Sixth Star of the Hairy Head) in Chinese.

Selena Gomez, actress of the movie "Getaway" (2013), has Alcyone in Taurus and in the cusp of the 8th Moon-Node House, surrounded by Mars and Juno, in square with the Black Moon axis, and in sextile with the Sun in Cancer and in the cusp of the 6th Moon-Node House.

Tom Cruise, actor of the movies "A Few Good Men" (1992) and "Oblivion" (2013), has Alcyone in Taurus near the Crossing Point of Age Progression (Basis Horoscope / Moon-Node Horoscope) in Gemini. Alycone is in conjunction with Pallas and 2000 YW134.
